ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in design reviews and provide PCB design schedule input.
Develop and maintain PCB CAD footprint/decal library following Ciena standards.
Package electrical and mechanical design data, identifying missing data, schematic errors and inconsistencies in mechanical data.
Develop PCB layer stack up.
Perform placement and routing of high complexity multi-layer (12 – 28 layer) printed circuit boards working from design requirements and constraints with minimal additional Engineering direction.
Target 100% DFT test point coverage.
Meet the DFM requirements
Perform DRC and CAM.
Document design package from PCB database, developing fabrication and assembly drawings.
Oversee PCB design reviews, checks and approvals processes prior to design release.
Help coordinate the quotation and ordering of prototype PCBs.
Help resolve technical queries from PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
In-depth knowledge and experience of PCB design incorporating High-Speed Digital, Analog and RF circuitry, Matched Length and controlled impedance, differential pairs, fine pitch parts including BGA’s on 12 - 28 layer boards. Knowledge of Micro-vias and blind and buried vias a plus.
Knowledge and experience designing using various type of fabrication material. FR4, Flex and rigid materials and different surface finishes.
In-depth knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-7351 (formally IPC-782) and Telcordia standard GR-78-CORE.
Knowledge of manufacturing standards including DFM and DFT requirements to produce high quality, mass-producible PCB designs.
Experience with design tools that include: Cadence Allegro, Specctra Router, Mentor PADS, Mentor DxDesigner, Cadence OrCAD, Valor and CAM 350.
Ability to understand the flow and function of electrical schematics.

EDUCATION and/or RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
6+ years of experience in complex PCB design
IPC certification a plus
Bachelors Degree in a technical field a plus
