Introduction
- Key point of contact for our UK-based business, including direct liaison with our Energy and Water Business Stream Directors and Technical Directors
- Commercial management and reporting, workload forecasting and planning of resources for the India based team
- Supervising ensuring the competence, quality and timely submission of detailed engineering deliverables and coordinate inputs from other areas across the business both in India and the UK
- Liaising with project managers you will play a key role in both managing technical input to our projects and ensuring that deliverables are appropriate and fit-for-purpose. Ensuring client satisfaction and providing support in the production of outputs, as required
- Incumbent to have responsibility for the leadership of local Energy and Water teams ensuring team development, career progression and satisfaction is achieved
Responsibilities
- Project management, technical leadership and timely delivery of technical outputs from inception to completion with a range of internal UK colleagues including:
- Act as the ‘face’ of the India-based Energy and Water team
- Local health and safety, welfare, risk, information security, and assessment / compliance
- Project, programme and financial management
- Promote WSP Vision and Values
- Actively promote the UK iCRC Charter within the team and that the staff deliver on the Charter promises
- Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams
- Supervising the preparation and checking of documents, reports and other technical outputs / deliverables from a variety of Energy and Water related disciplines
- Provide highly visible, inspirational leadership and direction for the iCRC Energy and Water team and ensuring that it is aligned with the wider UK business
- Mentoring team members towards professional accreditation or equivalent
- Carry out and report on staff appraisals and performance development reviews
- Recruitment to achieve budgeted and programmed team growth
- Monitor and review team capability in the use of the required standards, processes and software tools and, with technical colleagues, identify training required
- Identify opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones
- Identify further skills that could be brought into the iCRC to deliver additional services or enhancements to the Energy and Water businesses
- Promote the team's achievements within the team, Energy and Water business, WSP UK and the wider business via targeted profile raising activities
- Ensuring that quality procedures are implemented and maintained
- Seek regular feedback on team performances, ensure criticisms are positively converted into opportunities for improvement, lessons learned exercises with appropriate changes implemented
- Develop / maintain excellent client relationships ensuring repeat business and client satisfaction, internally and externally
- Contribution to bids and marketing material
- Contribute to the design of operational processes, systems, quality measurement processes and achievement of performance KPIs
- Ensure designs are coordinated with due consideration of any applicable Health & Safety, CDM or Quality Assurance standards
- Interpretation of statutory and industry requirements, standards and practices to our Strategies and Policies
- Carry out audits of adherence to WSP Management and Quality processes and implement corrective measures where required

Requirements
Mandatory:
- A good working understanding of all thermal power technologies & fuels including boilers, gas turbines, reciprocating engines and gasifiers gained either in an OEM, EPC or consultancy environment
- Experience of working on detail design projects and ensuring the quality and accuracy of deliverables such as drawings, bills of materials and other related schedules
- Excellent communication, internal client handling, interpersonal skills and listening skills with the ability to influence and interact with people
- Comfortable leading internal engineering discussions and the experience and ability to understand, evaluate and explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical professionals
- Technical manager with management acumen and strong leadership skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
- UK and International experience
- Open minded and intellectually agile
- A hard working self-starter with initiative and ability to work within a team environment
- Understand own strengths and impact, adapting behaviour according to different situations and individuals
- Professional manner and able to work effectively under pressure
- Act ethically with fairness, honesty and integrity
- Capacity to visit UK every 2 to 3 months for up to 2 weeks
Desired:
- Membership of relevant professional institution
- Proven ability to apply innovation and advanced techniques to design and contract solutions
- Successful track record of delivery of large detail design projects in the Energy and Water sector within the context of a professional services provider
- Awareness of different lifecycles and the implementation of lifecycle approaches to projects
- Educated to Bachelor / Master’s degree level in an Energy and Water related discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical or Process engineering.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body an advantage (e.g. IMechE, IET)
- 15-20 years’ experience
