BIM Director - MEA | Dubai, United Arab Emirates | PAROSNS

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 This leadership role assumes the overall vision responsibility of working with stakeholders within the firm to oversee the planning, strategizing and deployment of a healthy cultural and technology driven BIM implementation. The role requires a specific four-way set skills to run that side of the business properly.

The individual assigned to this position will serve as the Middle East and Africa (MEA) BIM Director reporting to the VP and Director of Technology Services for MEA Business Unit.

Leadership & Sales: This position requires continuous internal and external sales of Building Information Modeling. Thus, the individual must be able to speak the language of people and computers explaining BIM both outward to client and client – facing staff as well as inward to Project Managers and project staff members.


Technology Skills: This position requires a solid technology foundation which is critical to project manage the deployment and manage BIM Managers level staff across the enterprise. Another component to technology is the ability to collaborate with Information Technology staff laying the groundwork for a strong BIM technical environment.


Understanding Business: Solid understanding of fellow directors, studio leaders and those who are continuously pressured to make numbers, achieve productivity and financial commitment to their superiors and the ability to reason with them could mean the difference between succeeding or failing at this role. Must understand the project lifecycle and what is at stake when making decisions.





The Art of Innovative Persuasion: Individuals with this role should always be willing to take an innovative risk in coming up with solutions and strategies to address challenges. Persuading counter-parts in adopting technologies, while balancing that with findings of meaningful project and client benefits of such innovative solutions is vital.


Role and Responsibilities (The below is a non-exclusive list of R&R):

  • Responsible for the review, implementation and driving the adoption of the MEA BIM Roadmap
  • Achieve the successful implementation of the MEA BIM Roadmap over a three-year period
  • Management of the MEA BIM Management Office (BMO)
  • Facilitate and manage the MEA BIM Steering Committee
  • Be an integral member of the MEA Engineering Working Group
  • Develop and drive the adoption of BIM standards, processes & procedures
  • Acquire the BIM certification for Parsons MEA through BSI
  • Oversee integration of BIM and Information Technology
  • R&D Innovative solutions to stay on cusp of technology
  • Proactively present BIM Capabilities to Clients as a USP 
  • Persuade upward and downward to adopt advanced BIM vision
  • Create internal on-site consultant approach to serve project teams
  • Integration of BIM and Sustainable Design
  • Propose pilot initiatives and manage: technical & financial
  • Ensure project BIM execution plans adherence and success
  • Take the lead in educating business development and organization
  • Manage the production of BIM marketing material
  • Build a BIM marketing strategy: website & brochures
  • Strategic on-going relationship with the BIM and software industries 
Required Education/ Experience/ Skills/ Competencies and Technical Knowledge:

  • Minimum 20 years of relevant and progressive professional experience
  • Minimum of 10 years BIM experience up to the level of occupying a BIM Director position
  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry
  • Western and Middle East/Gulf Countries’ recent experience that is relevant to BIM
  • Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong Leadership skills in interfacing and working with internal Parsons Staff, Parsons Clients and subs, contractors…etc
  • Strong skills in conflict and issue resolution management
  • Project execution planning and resource management
  • Knowledge and experience with BS 1192 Standards and PAS 1192 or similar BIM standards
  • Knowledge and experience with of the U.S. BIM Standards
  • Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) projects implementation experience
  • Development of VDC standards across the company’s various business and service lines
  • Development of BIM Modeling standards and processes
  • Quantity take off / estimating, COBie experience
  • Experience in developing 3D, 4D and 5D BIM models
  • Corporate needs analysis
  • Cost / benefit analysis
  • Technical presentations
  • Client / partner relations, training / training development
  • Experience with, but not limited to, de facto industry BIM and Engineering Systems tools such as AutoDesk® Revit, AutoDesk® Civil3D, AutoDesk® Infraworks 360, AutoDesk® BIM 360, AutoDesk® BIM Glue, AutoDesk® Navisworks, Bentley Systems® AECOsim, Bentley Systems® OpenRoads, Bentley Systems® OpenBridges, Bentley Systems® OpenStructures, Sketchup…etc

Additional Requirements

  • Possess excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Able to write technical instructions and develop analytical reports for senior management
  • Attend to project-specific BIM assignments
  • Minimum of 25% of Regional and International travel is expected
  • Working after hours
