Director Of Engineering | Siftery

Job Description:
Our technology stack includes TypeScript, Angular and node on the front end; Ruby, Python, R, Go on the application and data side; and a mix of relational and NoSQL databases on the backend including PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB and Redshift. We love data - we handle petabytes of it with a performant data infrastructure. We built the first true data-driven software recommendation engine for the B2B world. We run a high-efficiency web-crawling infrastructure. Our entire Infrastructure is scaleable code and we love Terraform. Our engineering organization is non-hierarchical with a maniacal focus of delivering product. We are somewhat distributed as a team but we are tight-knit family.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join our team in Bengaluru, India and lead a group of high-performing teams that fuel our growth.

What you'll do
Lead diverse, smart and driven Platform Architects and Senior Engineers who love to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems
Foster and drive operational excellence, quality, scalability and security initiatives across your teams, and the entire engineering organization
Help build Siftery’s Integrations and Usage data hub, which fetches, models and stores all Siftery’s data. Financial data, SSO data, crawl data, sentiment data, recommendations data, internal data, etc. This is the data foundation that serves Siftery’s various applications, internal insights as well as machine learning services
Estimate engineering effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help rollout integrations of various kinds.
Maintain a balance between building sustainable and scalable products and shipping things very quickly
Build teams that are empathetic, collaborative, inclusive and respectful of each other
Provide continuous feedback, recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members and proactively address mismatched expectations
Instill and uphold a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes.
Help the engineering organization build strong relationships with product, customer success, revenue, marketing and ops teams
Strive daily to reinforce and evolve our mission driven culture
Work closely with the recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds

Who you are
You have strong experience with leading multiple teams that ship to production
You have strong computer science fundamentals, and have knowledge of and experience in one or more areas: Data platform, Integrations Hub, Developer Operations, Data Modeling, Security and Compliance, etc.
You are skilled at coaching and guiding engineers through their career development
You can motivate and instill a strong sense of ownership in your team
You believe in building both teams and products that scale
You are extremely adept at communicating relevant information clearly and concisely
You’re a natural at collaborating with our product, customer success, revenue, recruiting and bizops teams to discover new opportunities that grow our business and further our mission
You are steadfastly focused on build great product and customer experiences
You want to build for the future and have fun while doing it

Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science or a relevant field with a strong background in software engineering
10+ years of experience in building high-performance engineering teams
Strong communication skills
Humility, honesty, and integrity
