Sr. Software Development Manager – Worldwide Last Mile Planning @ Chennai, India

This data is leveraged to invent virtual/physical process that let Amazon efficiently serve last mile needs of our customers. We leverage cutting edge technologies in big data, machine learning, real time analytics and high volume, low latency, high availability services. Our services are architected to handle complex computation and process approximately 2 billion transactions per hour.

• Predict availability of customers and use this to drive date of delivery promised to customers when they’re browsing product catalog, or during checkout.
• Leverage our model of the physical world to relentlessly drive down operational costs through optimizations
• Infer extensive address intelligence acquired through Machine Learning and predictive analytics.
• Ensure quality and integrity of customer addresses.
• As Sr. Software Development Manager, you will develop a deep understanding of business, partner with development teams in multiple locations, and own the architecture and end-to-end delivery of software systems. You will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers responsible for supporting numerous clients across the enterprise. The successful candidate will look at the big picture from business and technical perspectives and will have proven experience balancing sustaining and stability issues for a 24x7 environment with new development to support the growing scale and complexity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• A minimum of 5 years of management experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant development and design experience.
• Experience in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience with employee development, performance management and delivering results.
• Problem-solving skills and the abilities to analyze quantitatively, scope technical requirements and effectively prioritize program deliverables.
• Presentation and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships with senior leaders across a variety of groups throughout Amazon.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in design, development and operation of large-scale distributed services in a 24x7 production environment
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with agile or similar program management methodologies
• Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units
• Experience working with remote teams and external partners
• Strong business judgment
• Supply Chain / Logistics experience
• Excellent problem-solving skills
