 The Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Resident Engineer for the Road and Highway Sector in Doha, Qatar.
You will oversee the execution and the delivery of the construction of a major complex road and highway project. Construction includes highways, roads, expressway program. Senior Resident Engineer will ensure that the project is implemented in accordance with the contract conditions, specification and drawings including health and safety and environment requirements, QA/QC, approving interim and final payments, preparation of site instructions and variation orders, review of contractors’ claims and testing and commissioning of the works, will interface with the Client and Program Management Consultancies on the project.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Directs the overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities. Ensures that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project
• Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
• Establishes assignments for Construction Superintendents for various work areas of construction operations, monitoring progress and recommending corrective action as necessary.
• Conducts performance evaluations and recommends promotions and salary actions.
• Anticipates and resolves various problems such as changes in scope, slippage of schedules, and budget overruns. Ensures the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control.
• Prepares periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher-level management and clients, including formal presentations.
• Ensures effective implementation of all Company and client policies and procedures, including labor relations policies.
• Serves as the primary contact with client representatives and government representatives for construction-related activities.
• Maintains strong client and community relations, including making presentations to local civic organizations.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.  
•  Requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• BSc or MSc Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Construction Management. The Degree shall be obtained from North America, Western Europe, Australia or equivalent.
• Chartered Status or Professional Engineer status is preferred.
•  Widely diversified experience (including successful management experience) in the construction of large and complex road and highway, infrastructure projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is required.
• With more than 20 years of professional experience, at least 10 years at Senior Resident Engineer level and above.
• Regional experience is required.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: 

• Requires widely diversified knowledge of construction-related processes and industry practices. Demonstrated effective managerial capability on construction projects of comparable scope and complexity is also required, excellent written and oral communications skills, commercially and contractually astute, as well as successful management the client relationship is a must.
